University of Utah
The University of Utah, commonly referred to as the U of U or simply Utah, is a public research university in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the flagship institution of the Utah System of Higher Education.
History
- Founded: February 28, 1850, by the General Assembly of the provisional State of Deseret, making it one of the oldest institutions of higher education west of the Mississippi River.
- First Classes: Began in November 1850, with just 26 students.
